NEAT movement for better health

NEAT movement for better health

Last week, I spoke at “BLOOM 2025”, a Women’s Presidents’ Organization (WPO) Canada two-day chapter retreat in Niagara-on-the-Lake, celebrating women in business, collaboration, and unstoppable momentum to create lasting impact.

One participant reached out after my “Habit of Play” talk and said this:

“I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation, and today I can finally breathe a little easier knowing that I do not have to be sitting in front of my computer all day long!”

This feedback reminded me of something powerful:  Sometimes, giving ourselves permission to try a new approach to exercise is what we need to reignite our passion for movement.

After over two decades of coaching, I’ve seen the same pattern:

When people transition from the relentless pursuit of ‘more workouts’ to the liberating embrace of ‘more movement,’ they realize they are in control.

It’s a transformation that puts them in the driver’s seat of their health journey—a powerful shift.

My clients feel lighter both physically and emotionally.

They realize health doesn’t live in the gym.

It lives in the micro-moments of everyday life: walking, standing, playing, dancing, laughing. These are the moments that bring joy and freedom to your life.

That’s what play for life looks like.

Movement is more than exercise. It’s medicine.

And the more we design our days around natural movement, the more energy, strength, and resilience we gain back.

When you start moving more throughout your day:

  • You think more clearly.
  • You sleep more deeply.
  • You age more gracefully.
  • You reconnect with what it feels like to be alive.

The best part?

It’s achievable — no matter your age, schedule, or fitness level.

And, as I’ve shared over the past three weeks here in The Play of The Week, we’ve explored the idea of Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (NEAT):

  1. What NEAT is — your secret weapon for better health.
  2. Why it matters — small moves, big impact.
  3. How to build it into your day — through simple, playful tweaks.

Because NEAT isn’t just about burning more calories, it’s about giving yourself permission to build a life that supports how you want to feel.

Now it’s time for the final piece, joining the movement.

If you’re ready to take this deeper, to design a health routine that fits your real life and brings back your vitality — I’d love to help.

🌟 I’m booking speaking engagements for 2026, and I’d love to bring this message to your organization or conference.

☀️ Or, join me in the spring for my next Vital AF Health Retreat – a day designed to reconnect you with your energy, strength, and joy.

Because the best investment in your health doesn’t cost more time.

It just takes more intention.

Play on,

Your coach and friend,
