What about fun?

What about FUN?

What about fun?

Have you ever walked by a playground and noticed the kids playing and the adults mainly sitting looking at their phones?

Most adults have lost the mental model of feeling good, which kids do intuitively.

On the one hand, it’s understandable that society has forgotten about fun, playing, and sheer enjoyment – turn on the news or have a shitty day at work.

On the other hand, focusing on fun might not sound very serious, but there’s a good reason successful people create time for it: The more fun we have, the more we feel truly alive.

Here’s a video example of what I’m talking about from my Instagram this week.

When we embrace the idea that movement can be fun – without judgement and without taking ourselves too seriously – magic happens.

It’s the foundation of why I wrote my book so that you can create a way to move your body in a way that makes sense to you!

Fun could change your attitude about exercise and inject a sense of joy even when you are doing basic activities like taking the stairs instead of the elevator and then working up to being able to do walking lunges as you go.

Small bouts of movement spread throughout the day and week can enhance your mental, physical, and social health while setting small, realistic objectives can make the biggest impact.

How can you find more fun?

Plan for it in your calendar like any other appointment.

Or, join me and thousands of Canadians taking part in RED January.

When you register – for free – you get to print off or download a calendar where you can keep track of the fun (aka play, aka exercise) you do each day to boost your feel-good hormones while belonging to a global community of like-minded fun-seekers.

Here’s your chance to challenge yourself to some fun for the 31 days of January and beyond.

So, HAVE FUN with work, with love, with life! Do fewer things that suck and more things that bring you joy — just like when you were a kid.

Then go out and have some more.

Play on!
